“Talk of the Town” Discusses Amelia Painter’s New Book

Author Amelia Painter, along with innkeepers Mary Nichols and Donna Muilenburg are guests on the Spencer Channel 3 television program, Talk of the Town, featuring host Curtis Dean.

TV host Curtis Dean had no idea that he was going to be treated to excellent cooking when he schedule the author and innkeeper guests on his weekly show.  It was a fun video shot from the moment it started until the last bite of tasty food was enjoyed!

The show opens with a brief conversation between Painter and Dean as they discuss the newly expanded and revised cookbook, Discover Iowa: Cooking with Iowa wines, meats and other Iowa products. Painter discusses the process of expanding the already popular cookbook until it literally became a new cookbook that will be offered by Amazon.com and a number of other retail outlets. Plus it will be sold by the publisher, the Iowa Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association. (In Iowa call 800-888-4667 to order your copy.)

Next the host and author head to the kitchen to learn how to prepar a great breakfast or brunch recipe from  Donna Muilenburg, innkeeper from the Okoboji Country Inn located in West Okoboji.   Muilenburg goes step-by-step and demonstrates how to prepare her Brunch Casserole.  Just one of four mouth-watering recipes Muilenburg has in the new cookbook.  With over 15 years of experience cooking in her kitchen at Annabelle’s Tea Room, Muilenburg is known all around the Iowa Great Lakes area for her outstanding gourmet delights.

Next on the program, Mary Nichols, innkeeper at the Hannah Marie Country Inn, prepares her Baked Stuffed Chicken Breasts.   Nichols also have four wonderful recipes in the new cookbook and one of them is her Velvety Chocolate Sauce — a big favorite with all her guests.  Nichols is also a cooking icon in the area.  She is known for her organic and healthy dishes. 

The new cookbook will be available for sale on Amazon.com in early December, 2008.
